Not Motivated This Summer? (DON'T PANIC- Go anywhere workouts)

First things first, thank you Bomb Squad for being unapologetically YOU!

We all have our self doubts and lately mine have been business related.

I'm telling you all right now, it's hard! It's really hard NOT to look at what others are doing and how "well" they say they are doing on social media. But, we all know the truth behind most of these posts. They are often shallow and self inflating.

Here's MY hard truth...it's summer and my classes aren't exactly full, which happen every year.  My bootcamp though, it's a hopping. Thank you all for that BTW but the fact of the matter is it's only an 8 week program and that's sometimes just not enough time to make long term changes, just like with most summer challenge type classes. I and Coach Cricket will do our best not to screw you over with poor coaching and a one size fits all approach to training.

September will come and most of my bootcamp folks will move on but my longtime clients will make there way back in the doors after having LIVED for the summer.  Maybe they'll be a bit more fluffy but that's fine.  That's a good thing. That's balance. That's real. That's life in a nutshell, ebb and flow.  NOT these short term BIKINI BODY one time fix challenges.  < THIS really saddens me because it's that bull crap, short term, starvation, beach ready body SHIT that I am trying so desperately not to do because it doesn't work, won't make you happy and it won't make you the best version of you.  Happiness doesn't have anything to do with what you look like!

I'm sorry but it's just not glamorous. There are no quick, one size fits all fixes. It's just hard work, commitment and enjoying the process along the way. Wish I could sell it in a bottle but I can't.

Yes, summer can be a hard time to stay motivated with so many excuses looming, like barbeques and pool parties, it’s just too easy to be outdoors having "fun". Pfft...who said working out wasn't fun? Not me. We have fun.  RANT.  Anyhow isn't that what life is supposed to be about?  Fun.  Who looks back on their life and says, "boy oh boy, did I ever love that time I was hungry most times and feeling inferior to air brushed people on magazines?"   No, life should be lived!

If exercise is drudgery or makes you feel bad about yourself then YOU are doing the wrong thing. Easy fix....find something you like to do and do it!  Stop torturing yourself!

And so, with summer comes an influx and then a hiatus all in one.  With the added self-esteem crushing bathing suit season upon us, when more skin is on show, and there isn't layers of clothing to hide behind anymore, I see folks walk in my doors, wishing, hoping, pining for the perfect body by some miracle solution and then...? Oups, where did they go?

I see it all the time. And to those desperate folks, I'm here to tell you, you can build your Ideal Body. Now, you can’t just ‘have’ your Ideal Body. Sorry to say it, but exercise is always a do-it-yourself venture. No other person and no machine can do it for you.

You need to earn it. Build it.

Frankly, I don’t know of anything that doesn't require work so why should your health and fitness be any different? Why should my business be any different?

“Anything in life worth having is worth working for.” Andrew Carnegie

There’s no ‘one-size-fits all’ path so choose yours.  Same goes for me and Cherry Bomb I suppose. Stop looking to others for inspiration and forge your (MY) own way. Not your friends, partners or fake FaceBook guru's path.  YOURS!  I can't tell you what that path might look like but you'll know when you find it. I know I sure as hell have found mine and it doesn't look like the majority of folks out there which can be scary.  It doesn't involve starving, or bikinis or whatever trend is out there.  It involves building strength of character and having fun.

If you want to train in groups , bootcamps  or train at-home?  You decide. OR do nothing at all ...ALSO YOUR CHOICE!

You’re not a victim. So don't act like one.  Your life is not a product of your genetics…your body is a product of your choices.

Shaping yourself into your Ideal human isn’t easy…but why would you settle for anything less? You're an amazing person and worthwhile.

Now ask yourself this, "What will you gain from losing (weight)?"

If it's self esteem or self worth then you're chasing the wrong goal.

The bottom line? Sure, you could get a temporary high from squeezing into your skinny jeans, but losing weight isn’t the key to loving life because your happiness doesn’t, and shouldn’t, depend on just your weight.

So what should you do? Make happiness a part of your get-healthy goals, not an end result. Find healthy recipes that you enjoy cooking, try different workouts until you find one (or more!) that you love, and buy gym clothes that make you feel awesome. Yes, you can make nutrition and health goals but don’t make them about arriving at a certain size.

There are plenty of good reasons to avoid excess pounds, reasons that go beyond vanity or social appearance.  Again, ask yourself why?  If it's to feel better about yourself then you need to reevaluate more than just your fitness.

So, thank you BOMBERS for living your life this summer because you get it.
Fitness and health is about balance.  Enjoy life and do the hard work as well.

Be awesome!
