THE INCREDIBLE REGENERATING LETTUCE (regrow your old lettuce)
TIP- The next time you dive into a salad, hang on to the very bottom of your romaine lettuce. The "heart" can be placed in a pan of water and with a little time, will eventually sprout a whole new head of lettuce, ready to harvest, eat, and repeat.
Here's how...
Just save the end from your lettuce and slice a thin bit of the bottom off and put into a little water (about a half inch). Change out the water every day. The lettuce will grow back incredibly quick. Peel away some of the brown leaves as it does.
I even put a "stump" to regrow in my garden. All I did was put each stump in a half inch of water (the perfect environment being a cool, yet bright window with all day light), check the water level daily, and wait for some roots but I could have planted them once there was some tender new growth.
Give it a try the next time you have a head of lettuce with the stem still intact. You have nothing to lose and a free harvest of lettuce to gain
