It's just fitness! Stop being an elitist and have some fun.

| FINAL WEEK! (May 9-3th) Drop in and give it a go!!! |
This is a rant so be forewarned.
It's just fitness folks!
We all want to feel better. Inside and out but are we missing the mark here at Cherry Bomb?
We try to teach and empower you to take charge of your health and your life through fitness but we certainly don't want you to feel superior to others and their choices?
So when did fitness become a religion? I'm not saying here at Cherry Bomb but in general.
Declaring health and fitness a religion may seem a tad exaggerated, but think about it!
- We worship Idols who possess a “perfect” physique.
- We search for a savior in the form of the next greatest diet or fad workout program hoping it will make all of our dreams come true.
- We pack gyms to work off calories from evil foods and purify ourselves from over indulgences.
- We preach the perfection of one workout program and damn all others.
A bit exaggerated? Maybe, but for those of you nodding in agreement you’ve probably seen it for yourself or even taken a knee at your very own alter. Ahem...myself included. At one time I was an evangelical member of the religion of CrossFit. I wasn’t knocking on doors, and attempting to share the good news of a Paleo diet and intense workouts by my "box", the best "Box" ever but I sure drank the Kool-Aid and saw no other way...I'm certainly more open minded to individual needs and wants now in my own studio.
Not everyone wants to lift super heavy. Not everyone wants to have a six pack or be able to do the perfect handstand. It's OK to want to do Zumba and CrossFit and Running and to think for yourself!
And it's OK to just workout moderately as well. There's no need to jump in with both feet and be a beast. It's OK to take time off. It's OK to go to other gyms and try new things. If any of these things sound like blasphemy then you, my friend, have entered into a religion and your god is worried about one thing - their POCKETS!
I have fallen prey to these things out of fear. Health and fitness was a tool I used to punish myself for feeling inferior in some way. I'd workout because I hated certain parts of myself, and all I cared about was how I looked. My obsession with my physical appearance, workouts and food was not healthy. And sticking with a gym because of fear of feeling dejected is also not healthy!
Before you enter any program think, "Does this make sense in MY life and does it align with my goals?" Focus more on real life and less on bikinis, stupid human tricks and evangelical gurus.
It should not dominate the majority of your time or mental energy and it certainly shouldn't make you afraid to try new things due to persecution.

I'm not saying this is your out of fitness all together. You will still have to do the work and somedays it will be tough but cut out the bullshit. Find a workout you enjoy and follow simple nutrition guidelines. That's it. Too simple? EXACTLY!!! Use the rest of your energy putting out those fire in your life, enjoying family and friends, read more, learn a new skill; you know - living! GET STRONG. HAVE FUN!
And the next time you hear yourself saying, "MY way is better than YOUR way."
Reassess your reasonings for claiming this point so fervently.
They've built empires on how to dupe folks into drinking THEIR Kool-aide. And I'd love for you to drink my Kool-aide but I also understand that their are several flavours and not everyone will like the cherry (man, I'm clever!) We drink a fairly watered down version of the CrossFit kool aid here because I feels it's a fairly solid platform to build off of when performed correctly and in a none obsessive way. But that's just how I roll. It's OK if it's not how you roll.
I say, if it gets you off the couch and you enjoy it, then great. If it gets you off the couch, you hate it, and it claims to be the ONLY way and everyone else is stupid then you've probably joined a CULTure. Good luck trying to cancel that membership.
All I'm trying to say is, "It's just fitness. But it's YOUR fitness."
As long as you’re consistently getting stronger in the primary movement patterns-squats, lunge, push, pull, twist, hinge and gait (run) - revving up the metabolism, and taxing the major muscles, then you’re achieving a great workout.
Don’t let a guru dictate the way you train, grasp a hold of the reigns and figure it out for yourself.
It's what as kids we called PLAY. Why turn it into anything more than that?
Keep it simple. Get strong (inside and out) and have fun!
It shouldn't be overly complicated.
It shouldn't make you feel superior.
It shouldn't make you feel anything more than better about yourself. NOT better than others.
Be OK with who you are first and foremost because I guarantee that paying $120 dollars for some program, be it a one time or monthly fee, won't do jack shit in the long run if you're in it for the wrong reasons. You're banking your fitness for the future and being able to bend into a pretzel at 20 or lift a million pounds at 30, all to look better to others is the wrong reason. You need to do this stuff for you!!! And it needs to translate to real life now and into your 80's when you actually need it.
Start being the best version of you. And try some new flavours of Kool-aid without fear of the CULTure you're in. That goes for you too, BombSquad.
Rant over.
P.S. If you're looking for workouts you can do at home in your own sanctuary then look no further. I really don't take myself that seriously in these videos so go ahead and make fun of me ;) But be nice.
