FIT BOMB - INTENSE FULL BODY WOD - CRAZY 8's (Looking good and happy after 2 kids)
I didn't think I would feel and look better than I ever have going into my 40's and AFTER having had 2 kids! OMG, two more months and I'm 40!!! WHAA?!
Why do you give a shit? Because I want you to know that I didn't always live a healthy life. Especially, pre- children. I'm not going to tell you that I am perfection incarnate now either. No ma'am!
I, in no way regret my years spent living in Montreal with my husband. We ate take-out nearly every night, would meet up with friends at a pub or restaurant often and on the weekends we'd stay up till all hours and roll out of bed for "brunch" (closer to noon or 1pm) on Sundays. It was awesome and a vice for sure!
Living the life was fantastic but I was in my 20's and could bounce back. Wait for it...That lifestyle not only drained the bank account it set me up for a real wake up call when most of those bad habits followed me throughout my first pregnancy (OBVIOUSLY booze were off the table. Don't go calling the authoritise.) I gained 40 pounds!! HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN!?! Pretty easily when you're used to a sedentary life filled with fast food.
40 pounds may not seem like a whole lot but when you're 5 foot 1 and (at the time) weighed on average 104 lbs, it's a whole lot.

I can hear you all now, "Cry me a river, Sara".
Hey, hey, hold your horses folks. This isn't about size, though at the time I thought it was. I was an actress and was told too often to lose weight. This is about mindset. We all fight our own inner battles so bare with me.
...
Pregnancy was one of the hardest things that my body's been through PHYSICALLY and MENTALLY. I'd always been the tiny girl and felt like I had lost my identity even though I was actually still quite small. CRAZY, I KNOW! It was more than just that. I was a mom, not an actress. I was a mom, not an artist. I was a mom not a... you name it. What the heck was I?
Anywho...I lost the weight over a year with diet (starvation diet nonsense) and exercise (elliptical). Yay, I was small and yet still squishy and unhappy...duh, right?! I hadn't found weightlifting as of yet so all I was, was less. The lifting came in with pregnancy number two and the Dungeon(basement) CrossFit year. I was now in my 30's and it was getting harder. I'll write more about that journey into poor form and not knowing what the hell I was doing, another time.
P.S. I WEIGH 120LBS NOW! :) It's all about more!
BASICALLY, NO BULLSHIT!
The human body is capable of incredible things. We can jump, lift, run, walk, walk on hands, carry children, pick up heavy objects, pick up heavy groceries -- and I want to do all these things even when I hit the ripe old age of 90. This means learning to move and train more functionally now. And as luck would have it, when it comes to functional fitness, you don’t need gads and gads of fancy equipment or even a gym membership. All you need is your own body, maybe a weight or two and a bit of space.
This is one of the tougher BASEMENT WORKOUTS I concocted a few years ago. It's short and anything but sweet, as you can see by my clients expressions! Give it a try.
CRAZY 8's (8 minute AMRAP)
8 Renegade Rows
8 Dumbbell Squat Cleans
8 Figure 8 Twists
Here's another workout, BASEMENT JACKED - oh so clever;). I'm actually in my basement for this one pushing around a weight.
Feel free to share, like and subscribe. Oh, and let me know which CrossFit workout you'd like me to make into a home version.
Send your suggestions to sara@cherrybombgaragegym.com.
I'm happy to make this SHIT SIMPLE. Do the work and don't fall for the garbage.
BE YOU. BE STRONG. BE AWESOME!

I really needed to read that.
ReplyDeleteAll too often, so called EXPERTS make us feel worse rather than better.
Fun read and the workout looks great. Thanks.
Thanks,
DeleteSo I have a question. What CrossFit workout would you like to see me make?
