GET OUT! (Outdoor exercise is good for the soul)

Warm up w medball

Sprint, stroll, climb, lift, throw, do something but do it outside.

Now that fall is fast approaching and the kiddies will be back in school , it’s time to get outside, breath in the fresh air and bask in the sun’s rays before it's too late. Not to mention, getting away from it all for a time has a tendency to breath new life into a tired soul. It’ll do wonders to your mood and to your motivation. I swear it will.

Cherry Bomb Garage Gym HooverballStudies suggest that exercising outdoors may lead to greater emotional and mental health. And in this day and age of computers, I phones, and urban living who doesn't need a little pick me up. 11 studies were examined with 833 participants with the conclusion that when we exercise in natural environments, feelings of revitalization  increased energy and positive engagement (Yeah, you have to look that up. I can’t explain it concisely), together with decreases in tension, confusion, anger and depression were greater than when compared to indoor exercise. And to top it off,  the people who participated said that not only did they enjoy their activity more they also said that they were more likely to do it again. Another benefit to being in the great big outdoors

Why not try a game of HOOVERBALL like FIT Club did?  It was a blast.  Hey, exercise can be fun.  >

For all I know these studies are garbage and there are other possible reasons for these benefits.  Possibly it is the exposure to direct sunlight. Which the lack there of, I'm certain, is part of the reason I went crazy this March (Read more on that here and meet my HAPPY DRUG ) but there’s something about basking in the warm sun to make you feel great. And let’s not forget that exercise is an excellent anti-depressant.

"Get outside it's fun!:  Listen to this guy .
The fact of the matter is, most of us now live in urban environments, so it's crucial to re-connect with nature once in a while. I'm not concerned as to the how - Go for a walk, join a fitness club, take a hike - just get out!

As the weather gets cooler, be sure to grab a friend or MP3 Player and exercise outdoors before winter hits! There’s nothing better than feeling the sun and wind on your face, listening to some tunes and letting your worries wash away. Afterall, you’re more likely to stick to your activity outside - or so the study suggests. Get outside and play, exercise because it's fun and maybe even get muddy. It's OK, science and Geiger says so! >
