WHAT MAKES A GOOD GYM GREAT (It's people...oh and results help too)
What is the common ingredient that is intertwined throughout the fabric of successful and influential coaches?
It's character: trust, honesty, respect, courage, placing others goals ahead of your own, mental and physical toughness and having a good attitude are a few qualities that are needed to be successful. These are things that will make a program and community stronger while the inverse can destroy it.
The article says that the personality of the coach is contagious and I have seen this first hand. When I'm positive, enthusiastic, and confident, so are my athletes, when I'm moody, well... woops. Anyhow.
Ultimately character is intertwined with what makes an athlete/fitness enthusiast/gym and a coach great. Without character, any talent is wasted, competence and knowledge of the task is disregarded and communication falls on deaf ears. Character will determine how successful one becomes in and outside the studio.
Don’t look at Cherry Bomb Garage Gym as a weight loss program it's more of a training methodology that enhances your body and mind. My clients start off worried about six pack abs and losing weight but soon that changes and they want to get strong. The body image that mass media portrays and 99 percent of other fitness programs that I see are all about getting skinny and losing weight. There’s something to be said for being strong both inside and out. EMPOWERING comes to mind and that comes from being part of something bigger. A community.

There are tons of exercise programs and techniques, but the community aspect is what makes Cherry Bomb Garage Gym a lifestyle for many people. At first, you join our box and enjoy the workouts, but, then, you slowly become a part of a community that supports your lifestyle. Before you know it, Cherry Bomb is no longer a gym you go to after work to get fit, but a place to be with friends and a whole new fitness family. It's a positive, encouraging lifestyle that is so deeply embedded in your everyday life that fitness is no longer a chore. It's fun.
"The way you think and act when you're training will be the dividing line between success and failure."
Your attitude, along with the attitudes of the people you work with, will create the atmosphere in your gym. I’m a pretty big believer in the idea that atmosphere is just as important, and sometimes even MORE important, than programming and technique.
Basically it's our (you & myself as a coach) “job” to strengthen the program through some kind of daily contribution, and it all starts with the personality and attitude you demonstrate to others in daily life and inside the box. I'll leave you with this.
Be the best version of yourself.
Look for the positive in every situation.
Be around people who will help you become the happiest, healthiest version of yourself.
